Super Simple Fudge

November 14, 2016

The time is coming friends.  It happens every year.  You remember as you are getting ready to leave your house for a party or holiday get together, that you were supposed to bring some sort of a dish with you and that tiny minor detail just happened to pop into your head as you were walking out the door.  Yikes!  What do you do?  Stop at the store?  No, you can’t do that for a holiday party – especially when  you promised something homemade.  I have a great idea for you!

I did this one time and I have to admit that I felt so guilty as I walked in the door and handed my dish to the host.  I thought  that as long as it was on my own dish, no on would know. On  my way to the party I stopped at the grocery store and purchased a treat and when  I got it out to my car I immediately took out of it’s packaging and put it on my own plate that I had in the car and covered it with plastic wrap.  How pathetic is that?

Can I just tell you how horrible I felt as I handed over that dish of plagiarized sweetness?  I  promised myself  that  I would never do that again so I immediately went about trying to figure out what dish  I could use as a back up when  I would be in a panic in the future.  It would surely happen again and I wanted to be ready.

Fudge.  Everyone loves fudge but some recipes are complicated and take a lot of time to make so if you are in a hurry, this is not an option  for you.  My Super Simple Fudge recipe only requires 3 Cups of Chocolate Chips (your favorite!) and 1 can  of Sweetened Condensed Milk (the 14 oz. size) and that’s it.

It is as simple as this:

Liberally spray a 8 X 8 glass baking dish with cooking spray or butter and set aside.

In a large microwaveable bowl add your 3 Cups of Chocolate Chips (my favorite  is Milk  Chocolate but you can use Semi-Sweet Chocolate if you want) and 1 Can of Sweetened Condensed Milk.

Microwave on high for about 30 seconds and then  take the bowl out and stir  your ingredients.  Some microwaves are more powerful than others so yours may not need any more time but if it does, put the bowl back into the microwave for another 30 seconds and then take out and stir again.  You don’t want to warm the ingredients for too long because the Chocolate will lose it’s glossiness and become lumpy.

When your mixture is smooth and creamy, pour it into your prepared glass baking dish.  You can let it cool on your counter or put it in your refrigerator if you are in a hurry.  Cut into the desired size and either serve or put on a fun  plate and head off to your party!

3 cups of chocolate chips
1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz.)

Pour both ingredients into a microwave proof bowl. Melt in 30 second increments. Stir after each 30 seconds. When melted, pour into a greased 8×8 inch pan. Let set on the counter for about 10 minutes and then cut into pieces.  You are ready to go!

This is such a versatile recipe because you can add other ingredients like Nuts or Marshmallows.  What will you add to yours to make a delicious treat that all your friends and family will love?
